What Else Do We Do?

Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient holistic therapy. Its basic principle being that there are reflex points on the feet and hands that correspond to every organ, gland and part of the body – in essence, the body is mapped out on the feet and hands. The treatment is usually carried out on the feet and is much more specific than a foot massage (although Shona will complete your treatment with a short foot massage if you wish!) The specific reflex points allow for the targeting of particular problem areas.

As a holistic therapy, Reflexology treats the whole person and in this way can support you through many ailments of body, mind or spirit by relieving tension, increasing relaxation, improving sleep and mood and your general feeling of well-being.

Reiki
Shona is also a Reiki Master Teacher.

Reiki is a non-intrusive therapy that works with universal energy and may bring you well-being on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. The positive vibration of the energy channelled through the practitioner to the client can release energy blockages and lift areas of lower vibrational energy that occur within the physical body as a result of imbalance. It is a subtle therapy but wonderfully peaceful and calming. Why not treat yourself or buy a gift voucher for a loved one?

As well as giving relaxing treatment sessions, Shona holds classes to train and attune you to be able to use Reiki on yourself and for the benefit of your friends and family.

Therapeutic Massage
This type of massage technique is based on Swedish massage and involves examining the surrounding factors which may be affecting a person’s wellbeing. This includes environmental factors which may affect someone physically or mentally, for example a poor working environment may cause stress, lack of sleep or an ill supporting chair at work may cause physical discomfort. Other factors include poor diet, an inactive lifestyle and hobbies which can also exacerbate problems.

Some of the wonderful effects of massage can be:

  • The relaxation of body and mind
  • Detoxification of the body
  • Improved skin texture and skin cell renewal
  • Improved circulation
  • Increased joint flexibility
  • The relief of muscle fatigue
  • The relaxation of tense and tight muscles
  • Improved muscle tone
  • Improved digestion by increasing peristalsis
  • The promotion of tissue regeneration -scar tissue and stretch marks

Each treatment is personally tailored to the individual client, prior to which a full consultation will be given, where there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and to discuss the treatment. During treatment, various massage techniques will be used to achieve different results.

Our practitioner can work in conjunction with the osteopaths and acupuncturist to achieve the best results for the client. Don’t forget that prevention can be better than cure, so please have a chat with our practitioner to establish a treatment schedule which best suits your needs.

Remember, you do not need to be suffering from a particular problem to enjoy a massage, perhaps you just need a good pampering!

Please feel free to give Clare a call to discuss any questions regarding treatment
